On June 29, USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, together with WFD, arranged the discussion “Post-Legislative Scrutiny: an Effective Tool for Legislation Evaluation” to highlight the importance of the VRU Committees’ capacities and PLS methodology in it. The event was attended by representatives of VRU committees, Secretariat, Research Service, international experts, and donors.
Representatives of civil society organizations, think tanks, and media discussed the state of parliamentarism and democracy in Ukraine in wartime during the roundtable "Preserving and Developing Democracy in Ukraine." The event was organized with the support of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program on June 29.
A strong partnership with a British MP, numerous meetings in support of Ukraine, and discussions with British voters - MP Viktoria Hryb has done all this during her visit to the UK as part of the Constituency Partnership project of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program. The program facilitates her cooperation with British MP Craig Whittaker.
The USAID program "RADA: Next Generation" promotes the cooperation of the VRU Research Service of Ukraine with the Parliament of Austria and ensures the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in the "Day of Parliamentary Research" seminar held on June 26 in Vienna. The Program supports employees of the VRU Research Service in integrating into the global community of parliamentary services.
With the support of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, Ukrainian MPs Viktoriya Podhorna and Oleksii Zhmerenetskyi visited the UK Parliament to learn the best foresight practices and discuss the results of the study "Scenarios: Ukraine-2040". Foresight practices become especially relevant due to the challenges of wartime and the prospects for post-war reconstruction.
Director of the RADA: Next Generation Program took part in the panel discussion "Building Strong Long-Term Parliamentary Relations" held on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London. The participants discussed the role of the Verkhovna Rada in post-war reconstruction and ensuring the European integration course, as well as the need to develop interparliamentary dialogue.
On June 13-16, the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program organized a study visit to the Croatian Parliament for VRU staff to learn best practices of European integration and develop interparliamentary dialogue. The VRU Secretariat met with the representatives of the Croatian Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, and the Government Legislative Office.
The USAID RADA: Next Generation Program implements the Peer-to-Peer Project to exchange experience between Ukrainian and foreign parliamentarians at the constituency level. The Program, together with partners from the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, developed such a partnership between 5 Ukrainian and 5 British MPs and now conducts study visits of Ukrainian MPs to their colleagues in British constituencies.
