With the support of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, Ukrainian MPs Viktoriya Podhorna and Oleksii Zhmerenetskyi visited the UK Parliament to learn the best foresight practices and discuss the results of the study "Scenarios: Ukraine-2040".
The USAID RADA: Next Generation Program builds the strategic foresight capabilities of the Ukrainian parliament, as it will strengthen the role of the Verkhovna Rada in developing effective long-term policies that will positively impact the future of Ukraine, including its post-war reconstruction. Foresight practices will also allow to improve the process of planning legislative work.
These practices become especially relevant due to the challenges of wartime and the prospects for post-war reconstruction, as such conditions make policies less certain and stable and therefore require innovative solutions and professional assessments of all risks.
The study "Scenarios: Ukraine-2040" was jointly conducted by the Ukrainian inter-factional parliamentary association "Ukraine's Strategic Foresight" and the British cross-party group "For Future Generations." It includes long-term scenarios for Ukraine's development, paying particular attention to the factors and risks that could change the course or pace of this development.
