USAID RADA Next Generation is a five-year initiative (2021-2026), implemented by the “Internews Ukraine” NGO, that aims to advance the “next generation” of reforms that will enable the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU) to become a modern, effective institution that promotes accountability and democratic development in Ukraine.

On February 28, USAID "RADA: Next Generation Program" held a coordination meeting of international technical assistance projects and programs, bringing together nearly 100 participants, particularly MPs, workers of VRU Secretariat and committees, international donors, and the public. The topic of the discussion was "Role of Verkhovna Rada on the Way to Ukraine's Full Membership in the EU."
USAID "RADA: Next Generation" Program hosted a strategic session with staffers of the VRU Secretariat, led by Secretary General Vyacheslav Shtuchnyi, and Members of Parliament. The 100 participants reviewed projects undertaken in the last two years of the Program and outlined future directions and work priorities for 2024.
With USAID “RADA: Next Generation” Program and American Councils for International Education support, the Parliamentary Education Center hosted a special lesson, drawing over 31,000 students, including those from the frontline and previously occupied cities. Students gained insights into how the Ukrainian Parliament operates during wartime.
USAID "RADA: Next Generation" Program, in collaboration with partners from the WFD, hosted an online seminar titled "EU Integration: Orientation towards Accession and Parliamentary Mandates" on February 22. The workshop aimed to showcase Croatia's experience with European integration and the parliament's role in the process. Approximately 50 participants attended the workshop.
USAID "RADA: Next Generation" Program, in partnership with International IDEA, will hold a conference on March 29 to discuss the results of Ukraine-EU bilateral meetings, Ukraine's implementation of the European Commission's recommendations, parliamentary diplomacy in the context of the dialogue with the EU, and the needs and priorities of the Parliament in building its European integration capacities.
Experts of the USAID "RADA: Next Generation" Program have prepared the second study on the activity of Ukraine's parliament after the full-scale invasion of Russia. The new report covers the work of the 10th session of the VRU of the IX convocation (September 5, 2023 – February 5, 2023). On March 22, the results of the study will be presented and discussed in public.
USAID "RADA: Next Generation" Program, in cooperation with the VRU Research Service, is conducting a series of events to study the best international practices of using policy papers and assess their potential application in Ukraine. On March 13, a public discussion will be held on the Scottish experience and vision of introducing policy papers in Ukraine.
On October 25, 2022, USAID RADA: Next Generation Program and partners will present the Natolin4Capacity Building educational platform. There are 16 online courses on various aspects of EU functioning and the history of EU and Ukraine relations, which Ukrainian civil servants can take for free in 2022-2024.
On May 26, the RANG team will present the result of the Index of legislative activity of the 6th session of the VRU. The survey was launched in February, but the presentation was postponed due to the war.
Even in the face of a brutal, unprovoked Russian war, Ukrainians continue to develop their democracy.
