On May 31, the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program held an online presentation on the structure and content of a new training «Policymaking process and end-to-end legislative oversight». The event started with opening remarks by Angela Maluga, Chief of the Secretariat of VRU’s Committee on Legal Policy, Ihor Kogut, COP of USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, and Chris Levick, Regional Director of Europe and Central Asia Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
Pre-war VRU’s legislative process lacks planning and consistency but benefits from transparency and openness: USAID “RADA: Next Generation” Program presented the Index of the Quality of Legislative Process On May 26, USAID “RADA: Next Generation” Program (RANG) presented the Index of the Quality of Legislative Process, a special tool to evaluate the quality of the law-making process in a parliament. The Index assessed the VRU’s 6th session (August 2021 - January 2022) that was held before russia’s full-scale invasion. 118 respondents took part in the Index’s questionnaire.
On May 25, the International Parliamentary Technical Assistance Coordination Meeting (IPTAC) took place in an online format. The goal of the meeting was to discuss the challenges that MPs face in the performance of the representative function, as well as the pressing issues and needs of the regions; to present the activities and coordinate the efforts of international technical assistance projects and programs under martial law.
