With the support of the RADA: Next Generation Program, the VRU Research Service conducted a training on "Parliament's Oversight Function" on July 4-6, which 28 VRU Secretariat staffers attended. The Program helps build the training capacity of the Parliamentary Research Service to provide high-quality professional training to MPs, their teams, and the staff of the VRU Secretariat.
On July 6, the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program held a coordination meeting to discuss the results of a study visit to the Croatian Parliament that the Program organized in June for VRU staff. Representatives of the Croatian and Austrian parliaments and VRU Secretariat leadership also joined the coordination meeting.
On July 4-6, the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program conducted a "Public Participation in the Legislative Process. Advocacy" training for 35 representatives of civil society organizations and activists. The Program develops the capacity of civil society to actively participate in the lawmaking process and effectively promote socially important initiatives.
The USAID RADA: Next Generation Program ensured the participation of two representatives of the VRU Directorate of computerized systems in the seminar "Artificial Intelligence in Parliaments" held on July 3-4 at the Zeppelin University (Germany). Program helps the parliament find digital solutions to improve efficiency and automate work processes.
On June 27-28, the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program conducted a "Parliamentary Oversight Function" training for 19 staff members of the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. The trainings are organized at the request of the Office and aim at strengthening the institutional capacity of the parliamentary oversight bodies.
The USAID RADA: Next Generation Program facilitates cooperation between the VRU Education Center and the UK Parliamentary Education Center and, together with the American Councils for International Education, supported the participation of a Ukrainian delegation in a training program for teachers to build international partnerships for joint projects and interparliamentary dialogue.
Within the Constituency Partnership project of the RADA: Next Generation Program, Halyna Vasylchenko, Ukrainian MP, visited the United Kingdom. The Program, together with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, developed her cooperation with British MP Tony Lloyd and organized a visit to the British constituency.
USAID RADA Next Generation is a five-year initiative (2021-2026), implemented by the “Internews Ukraine” NGO, that aims to advance the “next generation” of reforms that will enable the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU) to become a modern, effective institution that promotes accountability and democratic development in Ukraine.
