RADA: Next Generation presented a new training on parliamentary ethics

The USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, in cooperation with the WFD and the VRU Research Service, developed training on "Key Aspects of Parliamentary Ethics." The training presentation was held on August 31 with the participation of Ukrainian MPs, their assistants, the Committee on Rules of Procedure and Parliamentary Ethics, representatives of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat, and experts.

How were public consultations with MPs held in Rivne?

On August 29, the Civil Network "OPORA/Rivne" presented the results of public consultations with members of Ukraine's Parliament. Graduates of the Academy of Practical Analytics held three consultations with MPs on actual voter issues within the USAID RADA: Next Generation grant initiative "Citizens and Parliament."

Supporting voters in discussing legislative solutions with MPs under martial law

Within the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program grant initiative, the Union for the Promotion of Rural Green Tourism of Ukraine organized an online consultation with MPs Larysa Bilozir and Dmytro Nalotov on August 25. The participants discussed amendments to the tourism legislation and the Tourism Development Strategy of Ukraine, as well as the challenges faced by voters under martial law.

Helping VRU Research Service build international partnerships

With the support of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, the VRU Research Service delegation conducted a working visit to Poland on August 2-8. The Program supports the staff of the Research Service in integrating into the global community of parliamentary services, exchanging international experiences, and building partnerships for joint projects and interparliamentary dialogue.

Facilitating a dialog between voters and MPs about restoring Ukraine

With the support of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, two more meetings were held this week with MPs to discuss various aspects of Ukraine's recovery and its qualitative democratic transformation. IRI organized a discussion between MP Yulia Ovchynnykova and Vinnytsia youth, while Active Community held an online meeting with MP Oleksandr Aliksiichuk.

Strengthening policy-making skills of Ombudsman's Office staff

On August 8, the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program conducted a "Policy-making process and full cycle of legislative oversight" training for 20 staff members of the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. The trainings are organized at the request of the Office and aim at strengthening the institutional capacity of the parliamentary oversight bodies.

USAID RADA Next Generation is a five-year initiative (2021-2026), implemented by the “Internews Ukraine” NGO, that aims to advance the “next generation” of reforms that will enable the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU) to become a modern, effective institution that promotes accountability and democratic development in Ukraine.

Ensuring dialog between voters and MPs under martial law

Within the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, the International Republican Institute held another meeting with Ukrainian voters on August 1. The event was held in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast with the participation of MP Oksana Savchuk and representatives of the cultural sector. They discussed the issues relevant to voters and consider their potential legislative solutions.
