Director of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program Ihor Kogut took part in the World Forum for Democracy on November 6-8 in Strasbourg. During the forum, he conducts working meetings to develop cooperation and strengthen the favorability of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The USAID RADA: Next Generation program supported and facilitated a youth internship program at the Parliamentary Research Service to train professional staff that will institutionally strengthen the Service's capacity and enhance its ability to provide analytical support to the Ukrainian Parliament. The program selected and awarded scholarships to three interns who spent six months working in the Service's departments.
USAID RADA Next Generation is a five-year initiative (2021-2026), implemented by the “Internews Ukraine” NGO, that aims to advance the “next generation” of reforms that will enable the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU) to become a modern, effective institution that promotes accountability and democratic development in Ukraine.
USAID RADA: Next Generation Program has successfully concluded a series of training sessions for employees of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights office. The training was organized at the request of the Office and is aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of parliamentary oversight bodies.
On October 23, Igor Kogut, Director of USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, participated in a round table discussion titled "Professional Training of Public Servants in the Context of Ukraine's European Integration." The discussion centered on the role of international technical assistance programs in enhancing the training of Ukrainian public servants.
In October, the Education Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in cooperation with USAID Program "RADA: Next Generation" and the American Councils for International Education, organized 14 interactive sessions and events in schools and universities in Chernivtsi and Lviv. Nearly 1,900 schoolchildren and students participated in these training sessions.
On October 17-19, the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program conducted a training titled "Approximation of Ukrainian Legislation to EU Law: Practical Aspects for the Verkhovna Rada" for 20 employees of the Office of The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. The trainings are organized at the request of the Office and are aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the parliamentary oversight bodies.
The USAID program "RADA: Next Generation" helped the Education Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine launch a parliamentary course for future decision-makers. More than 1000 participants have already registered for it! The course includes 10 webinars that reveal current topics of politics, parliamentarism and civic participation in the life of the country.
