To strengthen the institutional capacity of the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, USAID RADA: Next Generation Program supported an internship program in the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In particular, the internship program was aimed at:
Three of the 58 candidates for the position of an intern were selected. On May 15th, the first iteration of the RANG-supported internship program in the RSVRU began. The internship duration was six months (May - October 2023). The interns participated in 4 lectures 152 hours of training, attended public events of the RSVRU, conducted 34 information and analytical materials, attended meetings with MPs, and performed tasks under the control of the internship supervisor
The results of the internship program were summed up during the meeting on October 27. Tetyana Bibik, the Program Deputy Director, emphasized the significance of such internships for young individuals, stating, "They need to comprehend how a state institution operates to understand the necessary changes and how to foster its growth."
Artem Yanchuk, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat, highlighted the program's role in bolstering institutional capacity by supplying state institutions with professionals: "The internship program proves extremely beneficial, enabling young people to test their abilities in the public sphere. It's crucial that, after acquiring skills and experience, they consider joining the civil service or a public sector role."
Lesya Vaolevska, head of the VRU Research Service, expressed gratitude to the program partners and its participants, stating, "The interns efficiently and swiftly prepared analytical and informational materials for our departments. I hope that upon completing their education, they'll consider joining our team. They already possess significant knowledge, and we are continually evolving, so we extend our invitation."
In addition to crafting analytical materials, the interns participated in a series of training sessions provided by the USAID program "RADA: Next Generation" and had the opportunity to meet with an MP.
