On May 15, a youth internship project at the VRU Research Service started within the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program. Three interns will study the specifics of the Parliamentary Research Service's activities for six months and join its departments to strengthen the institution's capacity and expertise.
High-quality information materials ensure openness and transparency of the Parliament's work. Therefore, on May 11, the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program conducted a workshop on trends and rules for writing press releases and news pieces, in which 25 VRU representatives participated.
On May 12, with USAID RADA: Next Generation Program support, the VRU Education Center held two online parliamentary lessons in the Lviv region. About 2,000 schoolchildren took part in them, and they were also able to talk with Mykola Kniazhytskyi, MP from the local 116th constituency.
On May 11, the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program organized a coordination meeting with representatives of parliamentary committees and the VRU Research Service to discuss the results of the study visit to the Austrian and Czech parliaments and further cooperation to improve the work of Ukraine's parliament.
The USAID RADA: Next Generation Program facilitated an inter-parliamentary dialogue between Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine members and the US Congress to strengthen democracy protection and institutional capacity of Ukraine's Parliament. The meeting occurred in Rzeszow (Poland) on May 7, 2023.
USAID RADA Next Generation is a five-year initiative (2021-2026), implemented by the “Internews Ukraine” NGO, that aims to advance the “next generation” of reforms that will enable the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU) to become a modern, effective institution that promotes accountability and democratic development in Ukraine.
On May 2-4, the USAID RADA: Next Generation зrogram, in cooperation with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy and the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, conducted a training on "Approximation of Ukrainian Legislation to EU Law: Practical Aspects for the VRU," which 26 VRU representatives attended.
On April 28, with USAID RADA: Next Generation Program support, VRU Education Center held an online parliamentary lesson in Kirovohrad region. More than 130 schoolchildren took part in it, and they were also able to talk with Oleksandr Danutsa, MP from the local 99s constituency.
