With the support of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Digital Transformation held public consultations on the draft law on the Unified Social Sector Information System. The program helps parliamentary committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine engage stakeholders in discussions of socially important issues.
In his welcoming remarks, Program Director Marten Ehnberg said: "Public consultations are a key element of creating quality legislation. This is a platform where representatives of the government, civil society, business and international partners can join forces to create an effective and transparent legal framework for society. Reforming the social sphere is one of Ukraine's top priorities. Modern digital solutions can ensure the convenience, accessibility and transparency of social services for every citizen."
More than 40 participants joined the discussion, including Oksana Zholnovych, head of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, Halyna Tretiakova, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy and Veterans' Rights, MPs, representatives of state and local authorities, experts and the public.

"During the event, we heard constructive criticism and reasonable suggestions. We will work on them in the Committee on Digital Transformation as we prepare the draft law for the second reading. Some nuances that are of concern to the public were also voiced. We will listen to them and analyze them," said MP Serhiy Shtepa, the initiator of the public consultations.
The RADA: Next Generation Program promotes public events of parliamentary committees to engage as many Ukrainians as possible in the lawmaking process and discuss socially important issues, taking into account the interests of a wide range of stakeholders.
