Despite the ongoing russian aggression on Ukraine, the USAID Rada: Next Generation Program moves forward with its activities to help Ukraine’s Parliament become a modernized institution. These are our key activities for the December 2022-January 2023.
The survey “Citizens and the Parliament: Trust, Interaction and Transparency during martial law” was conducted across Ukraine between October 6 to 22, 2022 by Info Sapiens on behalf of the International Republican Institute (IRI) in collaboration with Internews Ukraine within the scope of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program.

With the USAID RADA: Next Generation program's support, MP Kaptelov's team established the hotline for internally displaced Ukrainians in Pavlohrad District of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast to address their urgent needs. The hotline not only helps IDPs, but also provides benefit to local communities and betters communication between MP's team and voters. Read more in our success story.
In November, the Program held a strategic session for the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, facilitated the participation of Ukraine's delegation in the International Forum of Parliamentary Visitor Centers (Jerusalem, Israel), actively informed donors about the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and systematically supported the Ukrainian Parliament. The research "For strengthening the weight of Laws" offers a post-legislative scrutiny (PLS) systematic review as a new approach to the implementation of legislation and the supervisory role of parliaments in Europe. It provides a comparative analysis of the main PLS rules, practices, and trends in Europe, focusing on the experience of European parliaments, in particular Germany, Italy, France, Montenegro, Switzerland, and Great Britain (Westminster and Scottish parliaments).
