Guide for Journalists

About the EU in a simple and accessible way: the Guide for Journalists

Do you work in the field of journalism or simply interested in the European Union? NGO «Internews-Ukraine» in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine presents an updated edition of its Guide for Journalists about the EU and its activities in Ukraine.

Why should Ukrainian journalists check out our new Guide for media?

Here are 5 good reasons:

  • The publication clearly systematises and explains formats of cooperation between the EU and Ukraine;
  • The Guide helps you understand how journalists should communicate with EU institutions to receive the information they need;
  • It walks you through the formats of communication between the EU diplomatic mission and the press, a well as various materials which journalists can receive from the staff of the EU Delegation to Ukraine to carry out their work;
  • The Guide includes the contact information of experts who can provide them with professional comment on EU-related topics.
  • The publication also has links to resources which publish up-to-date information regarding media accreditation, operations of EU institutions, as well as changes taking place in European politics.

The Guide includes information on:

  • functions and activities of the EU institutions;
  • EU-Ukraine cooperation;
  • programmes and projects of the EU in Ukraine;
  • publicly available EU materials and audiovisual services;
  • EU-related think tanks, organisations, and information resources.

Each section includes useful tips as well as comments for media representatives regarding their work and communication with staff members of the EU institutions and the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine – in particular, terms for release of comments and information provided by employees and their contact information as well as deadlines, terms and conditions for journalists’ accreditation.

Natacha Ephimoff, Head of Press and Information Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, emphasised: «I hope that this Guide will be useful to journalists in their daily work, and that it will serve to clearly explain what makes Ukraine and the European Union move forward together».
