Punishing the guilty: the crimes of Russia’s propagandists and military in Ukraine
How has Russian propaganda contributed to the country's genocidal actions in Ukraine? Are there effective international instruments to bring Russian war criminals to justice? On Thursday, May 25, Internews Ukraine will hold an expert panel discussion titled Punishing the guilty: the crimes of Russia's propagandists and military Ukraine with the support of the National Democratic Institute.
The event will present two projects:
- The Kremlin's Voice — a database of Russian propagandists with evidence of their crimes during the country’s military aggression against Ukraine;
- The Book of Memory — a collection of stories of witnesses and victims of Russian war crimes during the full-scale invasion.
When: Thursday, May 25, 2-4 PM (EEST)
Where: online broadcast on the Internews Ukraine and UkraineWorld Facebook pages.
Event will be in English with simultaneous interpretation in Ukrainian.

Speakers include:
- Volodymyr Yermolenko, Director of Analytics at Internews Ukraine;
- Alona Hryshko, Senior analyst at Internews Ukraine;
- Anastasiia Herasymchuk, Analyst at Internews Ukraine;
- Tetyana Matychak, Media expert, specialist in combating propaganda and manipulation;
- Iryna Tsybukh, Combat medic in the Hospitallers volunteer battalion;
- Serhiy Movchan, Head of the Documentation Department of the Ukrainian Helsinki Union for Human Rights.
The event will be moderated by Maksym Panchenko, analyst at Internews Ukraine.
During the two-part discussion, presenters will talk about how:
- Russian propaganda spreads in Ukraine and the world, and how to combat it;
- Russian crimes affect the global and regional geopolitical;
- international courts and human rights organizations can ensure justice and reparations for victims of Russian war crimes;
- to increase the role of the public and the media in countering Russian propaganda and supporting victims of war crimes.
