"The main point to remember when discussing all popular messengers in Ukraine is that any app is not secure 'out of the box.' It often needs additional setup — enabling two-factor authentication, checking privacy settings, and deciding the level of anonymity you want to maintain while using the product," Alina Elievtierova, a digital security expert at Internews Ukraine, addressed the main risks of using popular messengers, methods for securing them, and provided life hacks for choosing a secure messenger based on its country of origin, encryption methods, and privacy level.
