"It is important that the public discourse around the parliament and democracy does not stop even despite the circumstances of the war", - this was emphasized by the Chief of the Party of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program Igor Kogut, during the round table "Parliament under conditions of war: analysis of activities and ways to improve the legislative process".
The program’s Partner, Center for Policy and Legal Reform, organized this event on July 28. During the round table, Program experts presented:
As Igor Kogut noted, "The research lays out many things on the shelves: those who want to see how representative institutions in Ukraine work today can get the appropriate figures and facts for this."
The results of the research were discussed with international experts and representatives of the Parliament. Oleksandr Korniyenko, First Deputy Chairman of the VRU, noted that "the Verkhovna Rada not only withstood, but also continued to work, and in certain aspects even more so".
VRU efforts have not gone unnoticed by international donors. Marc Ellingstad, Director of the Office of Democracy and Governance, USAID Mission in Ukraine: "We access the level of democracy and ways to analyze the parliament’s activity. It’s operation under such extremely difficult circumstances of the political and legal system of Ukraine. USAID helps implement parliamentary reform in order for the Parliament to become more efficient and stable. MPs and Parliament’s leadership have demonstrated the importance of parliament for Ukrainian democracy and parliamentary reform".
