Most Parliamentary Committees improved the transparency of their work, resulting in better interaction with citizens – these are the latest monitoring data from the CHESNO Movement. According to CHESNO ratings, 16 of 23 Parliamentary Committees have updated their websites, which now have an adaptive design that is more convenient for the online audience. Also, the majority of Committees have resumed live online broadcasts of their meetings or promptly share videos of the meetings.
Olena Perepelytsia, Assistant to the Chairperson of the VRU Committee on Social Policy, highlighted ongoing collaboration with USAID "RADA: Next Generation" Program during the press conference. She emphasized Program's support in enhancing the post-legislative scrutiny function. "Program's experts assist the Committee to analyze the effectiveness of laws to improve them for the benefit of Ukrainians," she said.
In the second half of 2023, USAID "RADA: Next Generation" Program provided communication support to 5 parliamentary committees. All of them improved their ratings of the most transparency committees, and 3 of them received the highest points. The Program supported the modernization of their websites, assisted them in organizing events and developing a branded style, and conducted training sessions on preparing information materials and creating graphic design.
USAID "RADA: Next Generation" Program systematically and consistently strengthens the VRU communication capacity. Currently, our experts are involved in the elaboration of Parliament's Communication Strategy.
Prompt, clear, and targeted communication is a feature of a transparent, accountable, and responsible institution. In order to have high public trust, the Parliament needs to adapt to new forms of communication, respond to the information requirements, and be a reliable source of information for its voters.
