RANG enhanced knowledge of the Ombudsman Office staff about committees

On June 7-9, the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program held an online training on "Committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine" for 29 Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights staff members.

The training sessions are conducted at the request of the Office and are aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of parliamentary oversight bodies.

During the three-day workshops, participants learned more about:

  1. the functions and principles of the VRU committees;
  2. the structure and organization of the work of parliamentary committees;
  3. experience of the committees of foreign parliaments;
  4. communication and interaction of the committees with citizens and stakeholders.

During the interactive sessions, the participants also honed their skills in organizing committee events and interacting with various target groups, analyzed the difficulties in the work of the VRU committees, and developed recommendations based on international experience.

This is the second training in a series conducted by the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program for the staff of the Ombudsman's Office. In May, the Program organized the "Public Participation in Parliament and the Legislative Process. Advocacy" training.
