On October 20-21, USAID RADA: Next Generation Program and EU-funded project Association4U held the second session of the two-day training "Approximation of Ukrainian legislation to EU law: key principles and useful tools," in which the employees of Committees' Secretariats and the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine participated. The previous session occurred on October 3-4. Seventy-seven VRU representatives took part in two European integration training sessions
The participants joined the discussions despite the enemy's vicious attacks and frequent air raid sirens. It symbolizes that Ukrainian European integration cannot be stopped!
As Mykhailo Tepliuk, Deputy Head of the VRU Secretariat, noted, the relevance of such training increased after Ukraine acquired EU candidate status because the approximation of national legislation to EU law became one of the Parliament's priorities.
Cezar Herma, Key expert on EU legal approximation and EU acquis translation, and Alla Dzhun, Senior Legal Expert of Association4U, conducted training sessions. During the online workshops, they discussed with the participants the following questions:
According to experts, the consistent and high-quality approximation to EU acquis is the main driver of Ukrainian European integration. In their welcoming speeches to participants, Jay Tott, Head of the USAID Justice and Anti-Corruption Mission Team in Ukraine, and Xavier Camus, Head of the Good Governance and Democratisation Section at the EU Delegation to Ukraine, also emphasized the importance of strengthening VRU's European integration capacity.
