On January 24, the Center of Policy and Legal Reform organized a roundtable discussion "Center of Government: Tasks, Challenges and Development Prospects" as part of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program. During the event, the SIGMA report was presented, which describes the role and functions of the center of government in the five countries of the European Neighborhood Policy's Eastern Partnership, including Ukraine.
State secretaries of various ministries, the State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and his deputy, experts and analysts, and representatives of international donors participated in the discussion.
They discussed how to improve the organization and functioning of the center of government in Ukraine, taking into account the tasks of European integration.
Valeriia Novak, Lead on the Legislative Objective of the RADA: Next Generation Program, stated, "High-quality legislation is impossible without effective planning and policy-making, so this issue is of strategic importance for the country's development and its EU accession."
"In order to ensure the best possible Ukraine's EU transformation, we should keep three key points in mind: the ability of the government machine to make policies in each sector; the center of the government itself, which will coordinate policies and strategically develop the policy vision; and the third element is civil servants who should work in these structures," believed Ihor Koliushko, the Board Head of the Center of Policy and Legal Reform.

The USAID RADA: Next Generation program has consistently helped the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine strengthen its EU integration capacities, particularly improving coordination and interaction with the government to approximate Ukrainian legislation to EU law effectively.
