On June 20, the administrative court of appeal in Lviv banned the Opposition Platform for Life political party. As reported by the CHESNO Movement, the court’s hearing lasted 5 or 6 hours in total, being the longest hearing on banning a political party compared to previous ones. The court ruled that the funds and other assets of the party, its regional, city, district organizations, primary branches, and other structural entities should be transferred to the state. On June 23, the same court banned another pro-russian political party, the “Progressive socialist party of Ukraine”. Both decisions may be appealed to the Supreme Court within 20 days. On June 24, the same court banned the party “rus edyna” (the rus is united) on the same conditions as other pro-russian parties.
On June 20, Ukraine's Parliament ratified the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (the Istanbul Convention), thus making Ukraine the 36th that ratified the document. Ukraine signed the Istanbul Convention in 2011. The ratification of the Convention became one of the prerequisites of Ukraine's EU accession. The European Commission, in its Opinion on Ukraine's application for membership in the European Union (June 17, 2022), wrote the following: "Ukraine has not ratified the Istanbul Convention, while gender-based violence remains an issue." In addition, the VRU adopted the national anti-corruption strategy (Law no. 4135) - another document marked in the above-mentioned European Commission's Opinion as to the pending task. The document contains a comprehensive list of actions to improve Ukraine's anti-corruption infrastructure. The Parliament adopted Law no. 2207-1-д on waste management that inlines Ukraine's legislation with Directive 2008/98/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 November 2008 on waste and repealing specific Directives. It also adopted Law no 5650, improving the national forest preservation system. At the same time, the draft law that regulates certain aspects of the relocation of enterprises and privatization of state property (no. 7451) was adopted in the first reading.
The Verkhovna Rada adopted Law no. 7418 that canceled previously introduced zero taxation on the import of foreign products and vehicles and Laws nos. 5688 and 5689 introduced tax and customs privileges for industrial parks.
