How can people's deputies of Ukraine effectively interact with citizens in conditions of war? This topic was discussed by representatives of all factions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during a round table organized by the International Republican Institute (IRI) on July 25 with the support of the USAID RADA: Next Generation Program.
One of the main goals of the RADA: Next Generation Program is to strengthen the interaction between citizens and the parliament. It is especially important in wartime conditions for people's deputies to maintain contact with voters in all regions of Ukraine and respond promptly to their needs.
As the Director of the Program, Igor Kogut noted during the round table: "Effective interaction is built, first of all, on trust. And for this, it is necessary to have constant feedback from the voters and take it into account in the work. Factions need to form policies based on the involvement of citizens. Therefore, we take care of effective and sincere tools of interaction between the parliament and the voters."
People's deputies of Ukraine discussed the challenges they currently face in working with citizens and emphasized the importance of communicating in electoral districts and especially working with displaced persons and citizens affected by the war.
During the round table, the IRI team presented a guide for parliamentarians on interaction with voters, which was prepared within the framework of the RADA: Next Generation Program. It contains the best international practices of interaction with citizens at various levels and under crisis conditions, so it will help Ukrainian deputies to strengthen communications with voters.
