Assisting in addressing the needs of IDPs from occupied territories

With USAID RADA: Next Generation support, MP Viktoriia Hryb recently met with voters from the Shchastia community in the occupied Luhansk Oblast, a region she represents in the Ukrainian Parliament. To understand their needs better, Hryb and a team from the Westminster Foundation for Democracy surveyed these voters, aiming to address their concerns at both national and local levels.

The findings from the survey were shared and discussed at a meeting held in Kyiv on April 20. This gathering included voters and officials from the Luhansk State Administration, the district administration, and the Shchastia Civil-Military Administration. MP Pavlo Frolov, who chairs the Special Commission on the Protection of IDPs, also attend the meeting.

The discussion covered a range of issues, including the elimination of certain benefits and subsidies, compensation for damaged property, and the nationalization of property in the occupied territories.

"We need to organize all the feedback to find the best way to address these issues. Our goal is to create solutions that will be useful for residents across all regions of Ukraine. I hope our approach will lead to tangible social benefits because we are strongest when we work together," said Viktoriia Hryb.

USAID RADA: Next Generation helps Ukrainian MPs stay in touch with their constituents during martial law and study their needs. The program also brings in other stakeholders to collaborate on finding effective solutions to the problems the voters face.
