We are working to institutionally strengthen civil society organizations (CSOs) that collaborate with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine! On July 15-16, USAID RADA: Next Generation held a training session for participants of its grant initiative, "Citizens and Parliament: Democratic Representation and Effective Interaction under Martial Law."
This initiative includes seven Ukrainian CSOs that have been actively involved with the Program for several months. Their work focuses on:
Marten Enberg, Director of USAID RADA: Next Generation, highlighted the importance of this initiative: "We are implementing a grant program to support civil society and strengthen the representative function of the Ukrainian parliament. The conditions of martial law pose new challenges to parliamentarism and affect the legislative process, and preserving democratic processes has been and remains critical."
During the training, participants presented the initial results of their projects and discussed what is needed to achieve maximum impact. Experts from USAID RADA: Next Generation conducted sessions on financial management, reporting, and communication strategies.
The training also focused on "Public Consultations as a Quality Tool for Drafting Legislation." The program aims to develop skills in conducting such consultations within organizations that work with the Parliament. This tool has recently been enshrined in law.
