Enhancing the advocacy and communication skills of the Ombudsman's Office

From May 16 to 18, USAID RADA: The Next Generation program organized a training session on "Public Participation in Parliament’s Work and Lawmaking Process. Advocacy." 26 employees of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights office attended the workshops.

During the online training sessions, participants enhanced their approaches to policy analysis and establishing communication with the public. In particular, they delved into:

• The legislative and lawmaking processes in Ukraine.
• The advantages and disadvantages of tools for public participation.
• Sources of information regarding parliamentary activities.
• Specifics of parliamentary advocacy and lobbying.

Participants also practiced writing appeals to MPs and developed an advocacy campaign strategy, covering all its stages, from identifying an issue within the society to monitoring the implementation of the decisions made.

This is the initial training session in a series conducted by USAID RADA: Next Generation program for the employees of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights office. The training sessions aim to improve the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine's analytical capabilities and ensure its institutions effectively oversee parliamentary activities.
