The USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, in cooperation with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, is organizing a public discussion on July 12 on "Strengthening the Role of Parliament in the Budget Process." The program seeks to help the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine improve the budget process, in particular, by establishing a parliamentary budget office. Therefore, we propose to discuss relevant, effective tools and best international practices.
During the event, our experts will outline models of budget offices in European parliaments and the needs of the Verkhovna Rada. The event will be a platform to exchange views on the necessary changes in the processes of preparation, examination, discussion, and adoption of the state budget, work on the financial and economic justification of laws, and the possibility of establishing a budget office.
