Role of Verkhovna Rada on Path to Ukraine’s Full Membership in EU

Negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the EU are likely to begin this year, and therefore the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine faces an ambitious task of approximating Ukrainian legislation with the EU acquis in a timely and high-quality manner. This task requires effective coordination of all branches of government and establishing a clear role for the parliament in the European integration process.

In this regard, USAID "RADA Next Generation" Program, in partnership with International IDEA, will hold a conference on March 29 entitled "The Role of the Verkhovna Rada on the Path to Ukraine's Full Membership in the European Union." The participants will discuss:

  • results of bilateral meetings between Ukraine and the EU and Ukraine's implementation of the European Commission's recommendations;
  • role of the Verkhovna Rada and the government on the path to Ukraine's full membership in the EU;
  • needs and priorities of the Parliament in building its European integration capacities;
  • parliamentary diplomacy in the context of the dialogue with the EU.

When: March 29 (9:30 a.m.)

Where: online (ZOOM) and offline in Kyiv (venue will be announced to registered participants)
