Parliamentary Advocacy Academy 2024

We invite representatives of Ukrainian civil society organizations to participate in the summer Parliamentary Advocacy Academy 2024!

The Parliamentary Advocacy Academy is a four-day interactive offline school for representatives of the Ukrainian civil society sector aimed at strengthening public engagement and participation in the work of the Parliament and the legislative process.

During the event, participants will receive answers to the following questions:

  • How does the Ukrainian parliament work? How are laws passed? Where can you get reliable information about the Parliament and its work?
  • Public participation in the work of the Parliament: what is it and why do we need it?
  • How can one participate in the lawmaking process? How can the public engage in parliamentary oversight?
  • What is advocacy and lobbying?

The Academy will cover both theoretical and practical elements of training. In addition to participating in workshops and sessions, the participants will work with trainers to model the work of the Parliament and have the opportunity to develop their advocacy campaign strategy.

When: August 2024.

Where: Kyiv region (the location will be announced to the selected participants).

Cost: participation in the Academy is free of charge. The USAID "RADA: Next Generation" Program will provide accommodation, meals, and transfers for selected participants.

Please note that participants will be selected on a competitive basis. Our ideal candidate:

  1. Represent a Ukrainian civil society organization.
  2. Possesses a high level of motivation.
  3. Seeks to develop and strengthen cooperation with the Parliament and MPs.

The "RADA: Next Generation" Program is implemented by Internews Ukraine and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The goal of the Program is to promote the "next generation" of reforms that will enable the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU) to become a modern, effective institution that will promote accountability and democratic development in Ukraine.
